Chad Oakes
Mr. Oakes was the President and founder of Oakes Model Management Inc. Mr. Oakes founded the agency in 1987 and, through his international marketing efforts and networking, developed the agency into one of Canada’s leading international model placement agencies representing local models, actors and actresses. In 1998 Mr. Oakes sold his majority interest to an Alberta entity. Mr. Oakes also created and co-published Calgary Fashion Magazine in 1993, now known as Look West Magazine, but has since sold his interest in this venture.
In the fall of 1995 Mr. Oakes co-founded Nomadic Pictures with Mr. Frislev, where Mr. Oakes responsibilities as Vice President, Acquisitions include new film product acquisitions, casting and foreign sales. In 1996 Mr. Oakes was one of the Executive producers of Hugo Pool and was responsible for acquiring the project and, together with Barbara Ligeti, cast the film. This motion picture saw its world premiere at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival at Park City, Utah.
In 1997 Mr. Oakes was an Executive Producer of Ebenezer. His duties included financing and selling the domestic TV and video sales. Mr. Oakes was responsible for casting Jack Palance, Rick Schroder and Amy Locane.
In January of 1999, Mr. Oakes was a co-Executive Producer on Beyond Redemption. His duties included script acquisition and casting Michael Ironside and Andrew McCarthy. In July of 1999, Mr. Oakes Executive Produced The Art of Murder, starring Michael Moriarty, Joanna Pacula and Boyd Kestner.
In 2001, Mr. Oakes co-Executive Produced The Barber, starring Malcolm McDowell and Produced with his partner, Mike Frislev two films, Snowbound, starring Erika Eleniak, Monica Schnarre, Peter Dobson and Jann Arden, and Cover Story starring Jason Priestley, Elizabeth Berkely and Costas Mandylor.
In 2002, Mr. Oakes, with his partner Mr. Frislev Produced The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie starring James Caan, Gena Rowlands, Kevin Zegers, David Schofield, Leslie Hope and Cameron Daddo. Both Mr. Oakes and Mr. Frislev received Emmy Awards as Producers for The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie. Mr. Oakes and Mr. Frislev also produced Don’t Call Me Tonto staring David Hasselhoff, Gordon Tatoosis and Michael Moriarty.
In 2003, Mr. Oakes , with his partner Mr. Frislev Produced The Legend of Butch and Sundance starring David Rogers, Ryan Browning, Rachelle Lefevre and Michael Biehn. In addition Mr. Oakes and Mr. Frislev Produced a 6x1hr reality series Hooked Up with Tara McCool hosting. Mr. Oakes with his partner Mr. Frislev also Produced Going Down: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Saul Rubinek and Robert Davi.
In 2004 Mr. Oakes with Mr. Frislev produced Man In The Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story starring Flex Alexander, Eugene Clark and Peter Onorati and Lies My Mother Told Me starring Joely Richardson, Hayden Panettiere, Colm Feore. Mr Oakes also executive produced: Ladies Night starring Paul Michael Glaser, Colin Ferguson; Rapid Fire starring Jason Gedrick, David Cubitt; Murder at the Presidio starring Lou Diamond Philips, Jason Priestley; Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber starring Jennifer Love Hewit.
In 2005 Mr. Oakes produced Behind the Camera: Mork and Mindy starring Chris Diamantopoulos and Behind the Camera: Diff’rent Strokes starring Bobby J. Thompson, Robert Bailiey, Gary Coleman and the lifestyle series Holywood and Vines hosted by Jason Priestley and Terry David Mulligan. Mr. Oakes with Mr. Frislev also produced Fighting the Odds: The Marilyn Gambrell Story starring Jamie Gertz and the 2 x 2hr AMC mini series Broken Trail starring Robert Duvall, Thomas Haden Church and Greta Scacchi, directed by Walter Hill.
In 2006 Mr. Oakes with Mr. Frislev produced I Dream of Murder starring Jolene Blalock and Martin Cummins and The Mermaid Chair based on the best selling novel by Sue Monk Kidd starring Kim Basinger, Bruce Greenwood, Alex Carter and Roberta Maxwell. STRAIGHT EDGE directed by Christian Duguay starring Mila Kunis, Gregory Smith, Peter Stormare, BIG CITY a 12 week theatrical film financed and co-produced by France’s GAUMONT, and DON’T CRY NOW directed by Jason Priestley starring Leslie Hope, Cameron Bancroft, and Jason Priestley.
In 2007, Mr. Oakes with Mr. Frislev started the year off producing Christmas Miracle starring Jami Gertz and Dylan Walsh and Wednesday’s Child starring Victoria Pratt and Ari Cohen. This was followed up with The Cycle starring Daryl Hanna, 45 RPM starring Michael Madsen, Amanda Plummer, August Schellenberg and Kim Coates and The Other Woman starring Josie Bissett and Jason Priestley.
2008 started off in early January for A Very Merry Daughter Of The Bride, starring Joanna Garcia, Helen Shaver, Kenneth Welsh, Lucas Bryant and Luke Perry, directed by Leslie Hope, Flirting with 40 starring Heather Locklear, Robert Buckley and Confessions of a Go-Go Girl starring Chelsea Hobbs, Sarah Carter, Corbin Bersen, and Rachel Hunter, and THE LAST RITES OF RANSOM PRIDE starring Scott Speedman, Dwight Yoakam, Kris Kristofferson, Lizzy Caplan, Jon Foster, Jason Priestley, Earl Brown and Peter Dinkledge.
